Whether you’re trying to to land more freelance clients, secure a higher-paying position at your company, or build-up your ID experience, a great portfolio will help you get there.
Instructional designers without strong portfolios often feel frustrated and overwhelmed when trying to get ahead in the workplace, or searching for new jobs or clients. There's a lot of competition—and, without a strong portfolio, it's tough to set yourself apart from the crowd.
You'll confidently showcase your skills and creativity. Professional growth becomes easier, and others seek you out for projects because they recognize the value of the life-changing learning solutions you design.
Better yet, a great portfolio establishes you in the field and builds your credibility. It shows off your skills and helps you get noticed.
Devlin’s flagship project and portfolio courses provided me with everything I needed to develop an impactful, impressive, and, most importantly, functional portfolio that turned heads and got me noticed. His lessons offered an effective structure that immersed me in the workflow of an instructional designer.
By the end of the course, I had taken an idea through action mapping, storyboarding, scriptwriting, prototyping, and full Storyline development. These collaborative courses not only helped me build my portfolio, but they gave me the skills necessary to stand out in interviews and secure multiple job offers.
Most real-world instructional design projects are confidential, and if you're just getting started, then it's hard to create impressive projects from scratch.
The scenario-based eLearning course helps you create a project that shows off the full range of your instructional design skillset and solves a real-world problem.
This project will show employers and clients that you know your stuff, giving you a framework to future-proof your skills for upcoming opportunities.
The portfolio course helps you get up-and-running quickly with a website that shows off your skills and tells us who you are as a person.
You'll choose your domain name, select your website builder, create your projects, decide what to include on your site, and build a portfolio that attracts attention and establishes your credibility in the field.
When you feature a strong flagship project on a stand-out portfolio website, you'll position yourself to make a bigger impact on the job and be recognized for your skills. Our students use this combination to unlock their full potential, secure competitive opportunities, and continuously invest in themselves to stay ahead in the field.
When I began to feel like my time in the classroom needed to come to an end, I knew it was time to seek out a change. Upon discovering Devlin’s courses for people who wanted to break into the instructional design field, I knew that I needed to join.
I am most grateful for the actionable plan laid out to develop a stellar flagship project. Although I understood the concepts behind topics like action maps and storyboards, I did not know how to thread all of these tasks together to create a final project, nor was I aware of some of the nuances behind developing an experience that is both informative and engaging.
Devlin’s framework behind creating a flagship project helped me weave all these elements together, and it made me feel confident enough to approach the instructional design world head-on.
When you enroll in the bundle, you get access to course-specific discussion spaces where you can request feedback and network with a community of driven instructional designers.
The Devlin Peck flagship project course helped me create a comprehensive portfolio piece that got me noticed by top companies and hiring teams.
While creating my flagship project, I worked through every aspect of the design process. It elevated my critical thinking, writing, and visual design skills, and I was able to develop the project using the industry-standard authoring tool.
Building these skills and showing off the project on my portfolio site helped me land my first clients and rapidly grow my freelance instructional design business.
Coming up with good project ideas is often one of the hardest parts about building a strong portfolio. That's why we have 15 videos and a detailed template to help you identify the perfect idea.
Once you have an idea you're confident in and excited about, the scenario-based eLearning course will help you bring it through a step-by-step instructional design process to create a beautiful, high-impact final product.
Visual design can be difficult, especially if you don't know what to look for.
However, people make snap judgments based on how things look and feel. If your portfolio or projects don't look great, then it's going to work against you.
That's why the scenario-based eLearning course teaches you a mature visual design process: it helps you create a mood board, style guide, and visual mockups, all while applying key visual design principles and best practices.
The portfolio course simplifies the portfolio-building process. Instead of sorting your way through domains, hosting, and editing, the course helps you get clear on what you need to do and take the necessary steps to bring your stand-out site live.
Building my flagship project was a daunting and challenging task alone, so I jumped on the opportunity to enroll in Devlin's courses and work with the community. It was reassuring knowing that I could always ask questions and share my challenges and triumphs with a group of people going through the same process as I was.
With the content and community's support, I not only developed my flagship project and portfolio website successfully, but I also strengthened my ID skills, formed new friendships, and built my confidence.
I have landed interviews with multiple companies and have received a few job offers since starting to apply for jobs. I have had a lot of positive response to my portfolio and my flagship project as well as the thorough write-up.
These are some of the tasks that the bundle will help you accomplish:
I entered Devlin's courses as a transitioning teacher with basic Articulate Storyline 360 knowledge and an eagerness to build my digital ID portfolio.
Through every step of the portfolio-building process, I gained confidence in my skillset. Clear, intentional content and abundant support from the community made my journey to becoming an instructional designer smooth and enjoyable.
I'm now finishing Devlin's courses with a very polished, scenario-based eLearning project that lives on the new portfolio website that I'm using to transition out of teaching. With the support of these courses and the community, I can now confidently say that I am an instructional designer.

We want you to be fully comfortable with your investment, and the best way to know if it lives up to your expectations is to jump in and give it a try.
If you decide that the courses aren't right for you (for any reason), then let us know within 15 days of purchase and we'll give you a full refund.
I started my freelance business as a master’s student, and by focusing on my portfolio and skills, I quickly began closing over six figures in sales per year. Using what I learned, I helped many of my friends and peers land high-paying corporate jobs and freelance clients.
After refining my approach to the ID market and landing high-value client projects, I started creating content to help instructional designers upskill and land opportunities at scale. Now, I lead a team of instructional designers. Our sole purpose is to provide you with the content, coaching, and support that you need to succeed in your ID career.
The Stand-Out Portfolio Bundle includes two courses to help you build your skills and find success in the instructional design market:
1. Designing Scenario-Based eLearning
2. Building Your Stand-Out Portfolio Website
This is the same content that has helped the instructional designers that you see on the showcase, and we're making it more accessible than ever with this bundle.
You also get access to an exclusive community space where you can work with other people in the program (either on live calls or asynchronously).
The bundle includes community support, which means that you can work with your peers to provide one another feedback and help each other succeed.
To make sure that this is valuable to you, we have systems, templates, and rubrics in place to help you provide good peer feedback.
If you'd like access to coaching, personalized feedback, and support from Devlin's team, then you can inquire about the ID Portfolio Bootcamp program (which are application-only offers where we work with you directly to help you succeed).
This bundle does not teach you any specific software. In places where software is required, we've linked to relevant tutorials and resources to help bring you up to speed. You will also not need to use any software at an advanced level to complete these courses.
If you'd like a course to learn the industry-standard authoring tool (Articulate Storyline 360), then you can add the Storyline Project Lab to your bundle at checkout. This program helps you learn Articulate Storyline at a professional level and build additional portfolio pieces in the process.
For your scenario-based eLearning project, the only required piece of software is Articulate Storyline 360. Most people who complete this process do so using Articulate's generous free trial, but you are also free to purchase the program (and there are educator discounts available).
For your portfolio website, you'll need a domain and website builder. This ranges in price from ~$10 to $200 per year.
You'll have the option to use additional tools, such as Vyond or the Adobe Creative Cloud, but these tools are not required and there are always cheaper or free alternatives.
The bundle does not include access to any software licenses or subscriptions. That being said, most students complete these courses with access to free trials.
Yes! Enrollment is currently open and you get full access to both courses after joining.
Since everyone's availability and background knowledge varies, there is no set duration for completing the courses. That being said, it takes most people 3 months to complete their flagship projects and portfolio websites.
Since you have access to all of the content as soon as you join, the pace at which you move through it is completely up to you.
Your access to the bundle does not expire. You will receive all future updates, and you'll always have access to the content and community.
You do not need any background knowledge to enroll in this bundle. That being said, learning Storyline and some basic instructional design principles (either on YouTube or in our other courses) couldn't hurt.
However, whenever we get to a point where you need to perform a specific task or create a deliverable, we always link to relevant resources in case you need to fill in knowledge or skill gaps. The community and our support team will also help you move past any road blocks that you may face.
