Instructional designers and eLearning developers may have to perform basic tasks in a learning management system, or LMS.

The LMS houses all of the learning content, such as slide decks, eLearning courses, videos, assessments, and more.

If you're trying to land your first instructional design job, then you should be familiar with basic LMS tasks. These tasks include adding users, uploading a SCORM or xAPI package, and enrolling users in the course.

Also, 50% of hiring managers say that LMS skills are one of the top three tech skills that IDs should have upon hire. Check out the full hiring manager report here.

This video introduces you to these basic tasks with Talent LMS. However, note that the user interfaces for different LMSs will vary slightly. If you'd like to get a feel for multiple LMSs, find some with free trials and see what the flow is like to complete these basic tasks.
